Robin attended her first ballet class at age four and soon discovered that the art form of dance was her passion. Thankful for her mother's dedication to her dance training, she trained with well-known dance instructors while living in Seattle, Washington; Freeport, Bahamas; and West Palm Beach, Florida. Before attending FSU in 1975, she was privileged to train with Ballet Florida where she was a Company member.
While earning a Bachelor's Degree in English/Business/Education from FSU, she continued her dance training with renowned teachers at FSU School of Dance and was invited to join teaching faculty at several local dance studios - including Dancer's Image, Sharon Davis School of Dance, and founded an after-school dance program at Community Christian School in 1982.
In 1992, Robin established Christian Dance Fellowship, a community faith-based dance support group, which brought Ballet Magnificat, America’s first professional Christian ballet company, to Tallahassee on numerous occasions. During that same time, Robin began teaching dance classes at Wildwood Church in 1998 and officially established Wildwood Ballet in 2001 where she continues to enjoy weekly dance classes with her students.
Robin is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum and is an ABT Project Plié partner where she has overseen after-school dance classes to students at local Boys and Girls Clubs in Tallahassee since 2016.
She is also grateful to have studied with Gibney Dance in New York City at their Institute for Community Action Training (ICAT) where she learned to implement their movement model to effectively engage target populations who have experienced trauma. With the tools she gained, Robin has taught numerous movement classes to women in local homeless shelters since 2014.
Most recently because of her continued desire to further her dance knowledge, she returned to FSU School of Dance and earned a Master of Arts degree in American Dance Studies in 2019.
Besides her passion for dance, Robin enjoys writing and has written several original story ballets - Day of Freedom, Hide and Seek, and The Journey; as well as, a summer dance camp adventure - The Nine Princesses and A Certain Kingdom. She feels honored that she was featured in the magazine, Dance Studio Life for her process of The Journey. In addition to writing, her recent hobby is dance photography, especially capturing reflective liminal "in-between" moments in dance performance.
And lastly, Robin enjoys giving back to the dance community by serving on the FSU Friends of Dance Council where she is grateful for a relationship with FSU School of Dance that has spanned decades. In addition to dance, writing, and photography, Robin enjoys spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, entertaining guests in her home, reading a good book, and traveling to new places any chance she gets!
