Rebecca Strickland began her love of dance -as most do- twirling around the living room as she learned to walk. Originally from Cincinnati, OH she had the opportunity to study at several studios in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and lyrical. During her undergraduate studies at Kent State University, she completed a minor in Dance focusing her efforts on tap and choreography alongside her ballet and modern training. Rebecca moved to Tallahassee to pursue graduate work at the Florida State University School of Dance. Her MA in Dance centered on research studying African American Social dance in the early twentieth century to complement her movement expertise. She is an accomplished vernacular dancer: judging, training, teaching, performing, and competing in many Swing genres. Rebecca is happily married to Michael Strickland and now their whole family (of five) twirl around the living room.
